  • Kula Cloth

An Antimicrobial Pee Cloth For All The Places You 'Go'.

Kula is a pee cloth for anybody that squats when they pee. Use when you're peeing in your backyard, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, kayaking, motorcycling, fly fishing, going to concerts, space travel, camping, skiing, snowmobiling, archaeology expeditions, boating, quidditch matches, sailing, spelunking, any type of running (trail, road, ultra), frisbee golf, yoga, treasure hunting, hunting, geocaching, rock climbing and... well... pretty much, you get the idea.

    WHY?
Traditionally, we either pack in (and hopefully out) excess amounts of toilet paper and/or employ the 'shaking off' method (aka 'drip dry'). Neither of these are good options. A pee cloth is a way that we can stay comfortable AND have a positive impact on the environment at the same time. Leave No Trace is the ethical standard for any wilderness activity. As adventurers, it's our responsibility to protect and preserve our natural spaces. Many people carry toilet paper into the wilderness and scatter it, believing that it will simply 'disappear'. By using a Kula Cloth® you are reducing the amount of toilet paper that you have to carry into the wilderness. The packaging your Kula comes in is fully home compostable!

      BORING (BUT USEFUL) STUFF

      Size: approx. 6" x 6"
      Weight: .63oz
Care: The Kula can be cleaned in a standard washer/dryer, but to protect the life of your product, please consider hand washing it. Also: no fabric softener, no bleach. Make sure to fasten the snaps on your Kula before you put it in the washer so that the strap does not get snagged.

The Kula dries very quickly - we recommend simply hanging it from a tree or from a trekking pole in the field. The UV rays from the sun will also help to 'sterilize' it as it dries.

      P.S. It's not meant for #2, just #1. :)

Illustration by What's Good® team member Sherri. Poem written by What's Good® founder, Jennifer! It reads (and, you must sing along):
      Tinkle tinkle eco star
Wipe down under where you are
No need to pack paper ply
This good cloth will get you dry.

      ABOUT THE COMPANY
Kula Cloth® was born during a trip to the alpine lakes wilderness in Washington state. Anastasia Allison was enjoying a spectacular sunset over Robin Lakes, when she walked around a Larch tree to discover... a giant pile of toilet paper. Upon returninghome, she started researching Leave No Trace options for toilet paper in the wilderness. She discovered the concept of a pee cloth and decided to give it a try (even though she had to admit—it sounded a little weird at first). She didn't like the idea of a bandana, so she bought a small blue piece of microfiber. This piece of fabric was a game changer for her — as a women's backpacking instructor for nearly 10 years, she started encouraging all of her students to use a pee cloth in the wilderness. As a joke, Anastasia started taking photos of her blue microfiber pee cloth in various spectacular wilderness settings. She was taking a dramatic photo of her pee cloth on the Wind River High Route when she caught herself thinking, "I wish that looked cooler." Suddenly, she had the idea to design an intentional pee cloth — something that she could feel proud to wear on her pack. She wanted it to feel like an actual piece of gear, not just an afterthought 'rag' or a scrap of cloth. After nearly 3 years of obsessively researching (with ZERO experience in the textile industry and no clue how to use a sewing machine) and after hundreds of hours of field testing with over 30 adventurous testers, she finalized the design and the Kula Cloth® was born.

Jackie! Thank you for this lovely review. Since we took a chance and created this custom design, it means the world to us to know you like it! I keep mine on my backpack unless I'm camping, then I hang it on the tent. :) Works great.
