Because it works.
Of all the eco-tabs and soaps we've used in our dishwasher, this specific formula works the best. And this loose powder works better than the Seventh Generation tabs... don't ask us why, we don't know. Plus, we've got to believe it takes less energy to pour powdered detergent in a recycled box, than to create little tabs and sell them in plastic bags—convenient as they may be. The big test: Coffee stains on coffee cups. We used to just live with the trade-off that we would use eco dishwashing detergent and we would have brown stains in our coffee cups. Not anymore. This powder did the trick!
Clean dishes should smell like clean dishes. Plant-derived enzymes make short work of even the toughest dried-on food and stains. And gets dishes sparkle-clean right without chlorine, phosphates or fragrances.
WHAT DOES IT REPLACE?
Less effective eco brands (though in a pinch, use those for sure). ALL NON-ECO BRANDS BECAUSE THEY'RE BAD FOR YOU AND OUR WATER. Seventh Generation dishwashing products do not contain phosphates. Phosphates cause explosive plant growth and algae blooms which can be toxic to aquatic life... AND MORE.
BORING (BUT USEFUL) STUFF
Each box has 45 oz (2.81 LBS)
From manufacturer: On average it takes about 1 ounce of detergent for a load, this would give you 45 loads. The amount of detergent used can depend on how dirty the dishes are, how many dishes are being washed and water chemistry(hard/soft).

ABOUT THE COMPANY
For the past 30 years, we’ve been a company with strong beliefs about the rights of people and planet. We believe that a company's values are as important as the products it makes. We know that plant-based products can provide the efficacy you are looking for, and that products designed from renewable plant-based ingredients are a sustainable option you are looking for. We believe that waste, is well... a waste. It's why we use recycled materials to design our packaging, and why we design our packaging to be recycled. We have a lot of beliefs, but the biggest one is that we have a responsibility to this generation and the next seven.
