The inner rubber lining is resistant to tearing or ripping, making it very durable.

WHAT DOES IT REPLACE?
Dog toys made in other countries using new materials, and an abundance of plastic materials. This toy does have a plastic squeaker, but with all squeaker toys, do not let your dog chew it should it break free.
BORING (BUT USEFUL) STUFF
Each square chew toy is approximately 5.5 x 4 inches with the squeaker making it just under an inch and half thick.
Due to the recycled nature of the hose, toys may appear stained or discolored. Don't worry. All toys have been thoroughly cleaned in a pet and planet safe way.
Care: Rinse with clean water as needed. Dry on low heat if necessary or simply let air dry.
A note from the makers about chewing: The small squeaker squares are made from a bigger and thicker fire hose which we have found to withstand most chewing for longer than the average chew toy on the market (no toy is indestructible). All of our toys are stuffed with a polyester filling to give the hoses volume. This filling is used in many stuffed dog toys and like other dog toys they should be discarded if stuffing starts to be ripped out.
MATERIALS
The material on the hoses vary based upon the need of each fire department and the age of the hose. Most are a cotton blend on the exterior and synthetic rubber on the interior. The interior contains a poly fill and plastic squeaker.

From Go Go Dog Toys: Our inspiration came to us through our everyday efforts to reduce waste. We were purchasing numerous dog toys which did not seem to last. The idea of having something sturdy like fire hose and something that would otherwise be thrown away inspired us to make our own toys from used fire hose. Now, we make them for your pets, too.
For every 100ft of donated fire hose we are able to create 4 free toys to be donated to a shelter of the fire department's choosing Each of our toys help fund fire fighting and provide toys to local shelters. Our toys are made from real fire hose which fought fires and saved lives.
