Hand Sanitizer (24 oz)

From farm to distillery to disinfectant.
To say we're excited to offer this 24 oz. bottle of sanitizer would be an understatement. It is a 24 oz., 80% alcohol topical antiseptic made in the USA in New York State in accordance with recent FDA Guidelines. It is a necessary and effective tool against germs of all sorts, most topically (couldn't resist!) Covid-19. But that's is only part of the story.  There's been a few stories in the news... just in case you're worried. This is the 'good' stuff.  Black Button is Ethyl alcohol (from corn) and so it does not have any issues like the methyl (a petroleum base).

NOTE: This is not gel, it flows like liquid. You can put a sprayer on topof it if you prefer. You could also put it in smaller bottles. Be careful not to spray near heat source.

How this award-winning distillery become the largest hand sanitizer manufacturer in New York, almost over night.  Black Button Distillery, up until a month or so ago, was happily making Gin and other fine spirits. Enter C-19. Like many businesses, the distillery closed and furloughed its workers. This alternative didn't sit well with the owner. Itching to do something for the greater good during this pandemic, he quickly modified operations to manufacture hand sanitizer. At first it was slow going. Soon he and his team figured out a way to move from 250 bottles a day to thousands, becoming one of the first distilleries in the US to convert. Over the last 5 weeks, they've donated tens of thousands to healthcare organizations and supplied front line workers across all categories, from police and fire departments to factories that make and package food products. Now that they've created a deep supply for those who need it most, Black Button is giving us the privilege of making it available to you. We're happy to offer it because every bottle we sell helps Black Button continue the fight. Every bottle helps you and your dear ones defend against Covid-19. And since our 'normal' sanitizer is unavailable, it gives us the opportunity to keep your business thereby keeping us in business, without sacrificing our commitment to eco and socially responsible products.

Almost forgot, the second part of the story is the Black Button story, which is one of spirit, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to the environment. Scroll to the bottom for more info, and be sure to pick up a bottle of their Gin or Bourbon the next time you head to your liquor store curb pick-up.

Can you put a spray top on it?

This bottle comes with a flip-top lid, however, if you have an extra spray top, it might work with this bottle. TAKE CARE, this stuff could ignite. So don't go spraying all loosey-goosey around flames, smoke, or other sources of heat.

Can you mix it with aloe to make a gel? Remembering this is 80% alcohol, you can experiment, but remember to be effective you need at least 60% alcohol, so can't dilute it too much. From the CDC:
"CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible because handwashing reduces the amounts of all types of germs and chemicals on hands. But if soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others."

Can you drink it? No, duh. Swallowing alcohol-based hand sanitizers can cause alcohol poisoning.

FDA number is NDC 74062-001-24.

We’re proudly based in Rochester, NY and the first grain-to-glass craft distillery to open since prohibition. While you can find us downtown instead of on the sprawling wheat and corn fields our beautiful state has to offer, we have the deepest respect for the land where our products come from. Founded in 2012 by Jason Barrett, Black Button Distilling is a New York State licensed Farm Distillery and we use over 90% New York State all-natural ingredients to make all our spirits.

From a young age, Jason Barrett worked alongside his grandfather in his family’s button factory. It was there hard work, dedication and a commitment to quality were taught as the principles of any good producer. These core values would later become the foundation of Black Button Distilling. We work exclusively with farmers who take great pride in what they harvest and we never cut corners in the pursuit of making exceptional spirits.

As a New York State Farm Distillery, Black Button Distilling is deeply committed to crafting high quality small batch spirits with New York State grown and produced ingredients. Over 90% of our ingredients are grown or produced in New York State. At Black Button Distilling, we are dedicated to supporting New York State agriculture and the responsible stewardship of our natural environment.

Cleanliness in the time of Covid

We work in public settings. We are concerned about our health and well-being as well as the health and well-being of the people we work with. We've used organic hand sanitizers with 70% alcohol especially during the cold/flu season. After the Covid pandemic came to our awareness we sought out an 80% alcohol hand sanitizer and discovered Black Button Hand Sanitizer at a local co-op. When the co-op ran out, they decided against reordering. We were really happy to discover it was available at What's Good. We were happy to see that What's Good offered aluminum spray bottles which has been a great way to apply it. We don't mind the alcohol scent, but you can add essential oil to mask the scent if you like. What's Good has some great essential oil offerings. Many thanks to What's Good for offering a great product from their local community!!!!!

We love that you are so thoughtful about the health and well-being of others. That's the world we want to live in. As you mentioned, essential oils are a great pairing with this hand sani... germ fighter is one of our favorites. Thanks for the reminder and for the review. Stay well!
