FYI: Food Huggers® give a snug seal on your leftover fruits and veggies and replace the missing skin or peel that has been cut away. There is a lot of variety across different fruits and veggies in terms of how long they last. Citrus fruits like lemons and limes can last for weeks while a tomato will not last as long. It can also depend somewhat on how ripe the fruit or veggie was when it was first “hugged”. As a result, we can’t give a single or exact time that works for everything but we are certain that you will get a lot of extra time to enjoy your fruits and vegetables when you store them in a Food Hugger®.
MATERIALS
FDA approved food grade silicone that is 100% BPA and Phthalate free.
The packaging we offer is 100% recycled kraft paper.
SOURCE
Responsibly manufactured in China... where 99.9% of all silicone produces are made. Here's a note from the company: Food Huggers® started in China because we had a good friend that we had worked with for many years and had a lot of experience in silicone. Starting a small company is a very daunting task and it gave us great comfort to be able to work with a friend who we knew would take care of our design, and give the best quality possible.
We have looked into the possibility of being Made in USA a few times. So far it has not been viable to produce in USA and keep the pricing affordable for our customers. The retail prices would have had to go WAY up. If you would like us to let you know when/if we are able to do Made in USA Food Huggers® please email us with the subject title “Made in USA” and we can add you to our list of customers who are interested.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Food Huggers was started in 2013 as a Kickstarter campaign launched by two industrial designer friends, Michelle Ivankovic and Adrienne McNicholas.

FOOD HUGGERS
Yep! hugs your leftovers. I always have half an apple, lemon, lime or cup of something hanging around my fridge. These work great.

I wish I bought these sooner
I have had these food huggers on my Amazon wish list for a while now. When I went into the store I thought why not. THESE ARE GREAT! Highly recommend. I especially love them for sealing off my dogs refrigerated food roll. Keeps it fresh until the next feeding time!
Such a good idea to use them on dog food cans. They probably keep the dog food smell in the can too... not in your fridge. Thanks for writing in!

So useful. Jars, cans, half of your apple, cups. They're sturdy and you can pop them in the dishwasher.

What’s not to love!
Great for saving the other half! Oh yeah! The next day the other half of your fruit and/or vegetable is still delicious with no waste. Go get a pack!
Did you know you can also use them as jar and can lids, too? AND... fill them with water and fruit to make ice cubes! Thanks so much for being plastic free!

These are always in rotation in my fridge! In fact, I find that I need another set, as I always have half a lemon or lime, or even half a bell pepper and an onion about the same size! They're fun colors and easy to clean and feels good knowing I'm not wasting plastic wrap to keep my fruits and veggies fresh. I mean, look how happy they are?!

I wasn't sure if I would really use this product, or products since they come in a variety of sizes. But, just a few days after bringing them home, I found myself with half an onion, something I would normally put in a plastic bag or container. I decided to see if one of the Huggers would fit, and low and behold it did. Then a few days later, I had part of a zucchini and part of an eggplant I needed to store. Again, reached for the huggers. I've found that they allow me to store thing in our small refrigerator efficiently while also keeping things fresh and without plastic. I love 'em. The only thing I could see wanting would be more flexible sizes, but so far it hasn't been an issue.
We feel hugged from your review. Huggers are 'the thing' you don't think you need, but then you can't live without. Don't forget, you can use them over all size jars too. If you save jars, you need all different sizes, and huggers do the trick. Thanks for sharing.
