If You Care brand was created in 1990 and started with unbleached coffee filters. If You Care had the first and only unbleached coffee filters in North America at that time. Parchment Baking Paper and Baking Cups soon followed, both unbleached as well. There was no other brand in the North American market offering brown chlorine-free paper products.

If You Care products are produced with a view to reducing the amount of waste in our waste streams. If possible, nothing should remain after the product has been used and properly disposed of. The packaging is made from unbleached recycled cardboard or paper which should be recycled again.

    Where is this cheesecloth manufactured?

    What's Good

    Hi Mary,
India! So many cotton and organic cotton and recycled products come from India. We always list where our products are sourced in the "Boring (but useful) Details" section, becuase like you, we're care where products are made and who makes them. Thank you for being a part of our community.

What grade cheesecloth is it? I need a fine one for removing powders in tea. Thank you.

    What's Good

Hi Janet, I don't know if there is a grade listing, however, it has a recipe for a natrual herb sachet on the back, so perhaps if it's okay for that, it would be okay for tea. Further, it says...perfect for straining, cooking, basting and straining. If this is not convincing (we don't blame you!) you could try our unbleached paper tea filters, which are made for tea. https://shopwhatsgood.com/products/unbleached-tea-filters-short

    Hi! Two questions:

    1. Is it safe to put your cheesecloth into a boiling pot of chili and cook it with the chili for 2-4 hours? And,
    2. Do I need to clean or sterilize your cheese cloth before cooking with it?

    Thank you!

    Whitney

    What's Good

Yes! You absolutely can. Sounds like you might be wrapping some spices or chilis? You can use If You Care twine to tie it up, too. In fact, you can also bake with it, as long as it is covered with oil or butter... but we suggest researching this before you do it. It's recommended that you boil it for five minutes after you rinse or wash it. Personally, I've never boiled it, but I think I might start to boil it between uses thanks to your great question! Hope this helps!
