  • Pure Botanical Extract | Vanilla

ADD TO YOUR FAVORITE OIL OR BLEND.
Vanilla Botanical Extract will bring a gourmand, inviting scent to any blend. It is a favorite for body products as it blends well with so many oils. You can also use Vanilla to help relieve agitation and promote a relaxed environment.

Plant Therapy's Vanilla Botanical Extract is sustainably sourced from Uganda, one of the main areas of vanilla production in the world, with perfect agri-climatic conditions. The green beans are harvested in June/July and December/January. In Uganda, a fast-curing and hydro-distillation process has been developed resulting in a higher content of vanillin, giving the final product a rich, intense, vanilla aroma

Yes, this is an extract. You still use it exactly the same way: diffusers, lotions, oils blends, etc. Vanilla beans cannot be made into an oil because they contain very little to no essential oil content. The aromatic compounds in vanilla, especially vanillin, are not oil-soluble—they’re primarily alcohol-soluble. This means that to extract the true vanilla scent and flavor from the bean, a hydro-alcohol (water + alcohol) extraction is necessary. This method effectively draws out the complex flavor compounds that oil-based extraction cannot.

    NERD ALERT
This is from Plant Therapy Customer Service:
Vanilla extract is made by soaking vanilla beans in alcohol and water to draw out the flavor compounds — especially vanillin, the main compound responsible for vanilla’s flavor and aroma. This method is ideal for culinary use because:

    • It preserves the delicate flavor profile.
    • It’s safe for ingestion.
    • It mixes well in baking and cooking.

2.Vanilla essential oil doesn’t exist in a pure form. Technically, there is no true vanilla essential oil because:

    • Vanillin is too heavy and delicate to be captured via steam distillation, the process used to make essential oils.
    • Vanilla beans don’t yield oil in the way flowers or citrus peels do.

Instead, what’s sometimes sold as “vanilla essential oil” is usually:

    • Vanilla oleoresin – a thick resinous extract used in perfumery, not water-soluble and not edible.
    • Vanilla absolute – extracted using solvents, very concentrated, expensive, and mainly used in perfumery.
    • Or a fragrance oil – a synthetic imitation not derived from real vanilla beans.
