SUSTAINABLE, NON-TOXIC, NATURAL WOOD.
Paint is plastic. Sharpening (or chewing on) pencils unavoidably creates micro- and nano- plastic pollution. Micro and nano plastics can enter our tissues and organs, and pass through the blood brain barrier within two hours of ingestion (the blood brain barrier BBB, are the cells that protect the brain from harmful substances).
Take a stand against school supplies made with cheap and potentially toxic materials. These unlacquered, sustainably-made cedarwood pencils are made in small batches from one of the last pencil manufacturing companies in the United States and do not contain paints or lacquers. Set includes 12 pencils in a 100% recyclable box.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
From the founders of Wisdom Supply Co.: "Our grave concern (obsession) over plastic pollution brought us together in 2016 at numerous plastic pollution events. After many years of clean-ups/data collection/public education, we came to understand the scale of the problem: the amount produced annually outweighs all of humanity, it's now documented in the air we breathe, the soil where we grow our food, rain, the water we drink, and it's in our bloodstreams, tissues, breast milk, and even in our brains. Plastic is found at the top of Mount Everest and at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.
The most meaningful way to address the issue is to prevent plastic from being made.
As a parent frustrated with the annual back-to-school prescription of cheap, disposable plastic supplies, Heather saw an opportunity to provide a 'waste-less' solution for her son's school. She crowdfunded and stocked each classroom with plastic-free school supplies. We turned what began as an activist/volunteer effort, into Wisdom Supply Co., a certified B-Corp on a mission to reduce plastic waste at an exponential scale."
