    Featured Nonprofit

As part of our commitment to being a not-just-for-profit business, What’s Good features a different charity each month by donating $1 for every order we receive.

November’s charity is No Kid Hungry, a campaign for Share Our Strength, an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty. We chose No Kid Hungry because every child in the USA should have a warm meal and the nutrition they need to thrive—every day. We chose November to raise awareness because it's the onset of cold weather and because Thanksgiving is a symbol of food abundance.

As we did our research, we learned that nearly 13 million children in the United States live in households that do not have enough food for every family member to live a healthy life. We also discovered that 10% of Americans live below the federal poverty line – $26,200 for a family of four – which makes them even more susceptible to hunger. It’s hard to imagine trying to care for a family of four on twice that income, let alone $26k. In these struggling families, members often take turns at mealtimes, or rely on inexpensive, processed foods that do not have the nutrition needed to stay healthy, strong and productive.

We'll say it again. No child should go hungry in America. Especially now, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic when these issues are amplified.

No Kid Hungry is working to put an end to childhood hunger in multiple ways:

    • School meals programs to ensure kids get the nutrition they need throughout the day
    • Grants to schools, food banks and other community groups
    • National, state and local advocacy for family-friendly policies to reduce food insecurity
    • Partnerships with celebrities, chefs and media to raise awareness of childhood hunger
    • Research and policy experts to provide tools and training to help people across America help feed children
    • Education and support to help parents and caregivers understand and deliver early childhood nutrition

Eradicating hunger is not quantum physics. As No Kid Hungry likes to say, this is a problem we know how to solve.

What’s Good is proud to support No Kid Hungry during the month of November to help them do just that. We hope your What’s Good purchase makes your heart full knowing that we’ll donate $1 for every order you place to help No Kid Hungry feed children in need.

And, if you’re new to What’s Good, this is just part of our giving program. Among other donations, we also give 1% of our revenue to One Percent for the Planet and with every used box shipped (pick this option at check out), we'll plant one tree with One Tree Planted.

Thank you! And remember, together we do more good.

P.S. If you know of a national nonprofit doing good work for social or environmental good, please let us know.
